5 Steps Process of Plastic Bags Recycling

Plastic is really hazardous as it’s not disposable and degradable.

Most companies manufacturing plastic bags aim at adopting environmentally friendly recyclable plastic bags. Thanks to the growing attention of legal officials and government intervention, most companies in the USA are trying to adapt to the biodegradable laminated bags.

This is still in its infancy though; companies like Plastic Bag Source are doing it marvelously.

Plastic recycling is a term coined from the process of turning waste plastic to a usable product and then re-enter the same product in the manufacturing value chain.

There are 5 important stages of plastic recycling. Let’s understand them below:

Identify The Plastics

Not every plastic shopping bags or plastic product can be recycled.

Once the plastic arrives at the recycling plant, the company engineers inspect the plastic type as recycling plastic is a convoluted practice.

Mixed plastic or poor quality plastic or drawstring bags can’t be recycled. Engineers at the plant sort out the plastic bags and plastic products before taking them into consideration for a possible recycling.

Washing the Impurities

After the engineers identify the type of plastic and consider it worthy of a recycling, it is separated and taken to the next level, where it is cleaned.

The washing process starts with removing the labels on plastic products, laminated bags or any other labelled product of plastic.

Once the labels are removed the other impurities and adhesives are removed. Until and unless these impurities are removed the quality of recycled plastic wouldn't improve.

Tearing of the Plastic

In the third stage, the waste plastic is loaded onto the conveyor belt that takes the plastic bags directly towards rotating metal teeth that tears the plastic into small pieces. The same plastic pieces are bagged up and passed through a stringent quality check.

Identify The Grade of Plastic

Once the shredded plastic is passed through a stringent quality and chemical test, the plastic pieces are labeled differently as per the quality of plastics and its grade. Certain grade plastics extracted from drawstring bags or plastic products are blended with virgin plastic and taken to the next level of recycling.

Extruding Into Form of Pellets

The last stage of the recycling process involves melting the clean plastic pieces and extruding into the form of pellets. These pallets are then sent to the manufacturing unit, where they are manufactured with the next lot of plastics. The next lot of plastic is then converted into wonderful plastic products we use in our daily lives.

Summing it all up, recycling plastic is beneficial in many ways. The landfills that pollute the environment with tons of unused plastic will start emptying.

Moreover, as plastic is derived from oil, which is a non-renewable natural resource, it is advisable to reuse it as much as possible.

Recycled laminated bags and other forms of plastic bags are also equally popular among the consumers as carrying reusable shopping bags or any other products also let them feel proud about the contribution that they make in reducing the global warming.

Is Charging For Plastic Bag A Good Initiative?

 Plastic Shopping Bags

Usage of plastic bags has mounted to a new high. Scientists have identified a huge threat with the growing use of plastic bags. As plastic is not easily disposable, it pollutes the environment and proliferates global warming. Countries are trying to identify various means to reduce the consumption of plastic bags in wholesale; one of them is penalizing people for abuse of plastic bags.
Why plastic bags?

Plastic bags have a host of advantages, some of these are:

- Easily available and used widely for carrying items from grocery stores worldwide
- Useful for throwing the garbage in the dustbin
- Promotional shopping bags are effective low-cost medium for branding and advertisement
- Pack-up clothes and cover up the cupboards

Arguments for penalizing :
Worldwide some countries have identified penalizing plastic bag abusers as a solution to curb plastic bags. Countries have felt that paying against the use of plastic shall reduce its consumption and in turn; reduce the overall effects of global warming. Penalizing people for the abuse of plastic bags will be warning for other abusers and that way, it will create a chain of positive people not abusing plastic.

Arguments against penalizing :
People use plastic aggressively as the alternates are not freely available. Charging for plastic bags might also increase the corruption as there is no clear strategy as to who would receive this penalty funds, the government or retailers. Those retailers who buy plastic bags in wholesale have to pay a premium price for the procurement of such bags.

What’s next?
Charging for a plastic bag might work out well for a certain countries however; this system can fail for most others. Ideally, reusable plastic bags are a good option to reduce the plastic abuse. A few companies like plastic bag source produce biodegradable and reusable plastic bags and thereupon, ensure that the plastic bags dispose in the ground and don’t contribute towards rising global warming.

Companies like Plastic Bag Source also produce promotional shopping bags, but as they are reusable, they promote the company well to the target and at the same time stop the plastic abuse. Instead of penalizing customers with a premium price, countries should fund more such companies who produce and manufacture reusable and biodegradable plastic bags.

Some of the main benefits of reusable plastic bags are:
Reusable plastic bags are inexpensive and this is the biggest benefit to both, the consumers and the retailers. Moreover, reusable bags can be reused for a longer time period and thus, the cost of using that plastic bag remains pocket friendly.

Reusable or biodegradable plastic bags are equally strong and can withstand a good amount of load. Stuffing groceries into sturdy reusable bags is faster than bagging with normal plastic. Biodegradable plastic keep their shape and don’t require picking apart, like plastic bags. Reusables are also easy to wash.
Wrapping it all up, reusable or biodegradable plastic bags in wholesale are the solutions to the surging problem of global warming. Stop penalizing, go green!
